Especially since these autumn leaves all over the place has me feeling more colloquial than ever before. Don’t ask why… perhaps because in urban environments anything countryish is rather quaint and somehow always out of place. I might as well get into it now, for I know I’ll return to the city before too long.

Utilizing genetics… ie. my grandmother’s yellow plaid cape cira mid-20th century helps to blend in with the autumn leaves. If I stand still, you can’t see me (see last photo). Also I’m wearing lace tights, vintage knicerbockers and a Vivienne Westwood tie front sweater, and of course spectator pumps… which you really cant see, because they’re hiding in the leaves.

Now if you will excuse me, I’m off to make angels in the leaves. Have a lovely weekend!

Grey, drizzly skies, colorful leaves. Maybe today, that’s why I decide to wear something that’s a mix between gloomy grey and bold color too… honestly, I don’t really think that much about my attire on a conscious level aside from the old ‘will I be warm enough?’

This autumn, I haven’t really went out and bought a whole bunch of new stuff like I have in previous years… I don’t know why that is, perhaps the horror stories going on in the news, or maybe even the fact I have tons of clothes I don’t wear near enough… digging though my closet, there’s things I’ve worn only once or twice, like this wool pixel skirt an American Rag reconstructed piece, a pair of 80’s boots I’ve never worn after owning them for five or so months. Sometimes I wonder if my desire for new detracts from my own gratitude for what I already have.

The Outfit

Grey turtleneck dress: American Apparel
Skirt, made from vintage fabrics: American Rag
Belt, Scarf, Sweater Vest, 80’s boots, Glasses: Vintage (thrifted)
Tights: Welovecolors.com

I have to say, Mad Men have been seriously seeping into my imagination, I’m loving the 60’s look even for forest walks with my boyfriend, it’s deemed necessary to dress up in some kind of feminine plaid. Lord knows that Betty wouldn’t go anywhere unless properly attired.

There it was, at the flea market… the most darling dress in the 50cent pile. It was exactly what I was looking for, a plaid mini dress with interesting details. But it was a girls dress, a big girl’s dress, big enough for me to wonder if I could fit into it. I placed it over my body, you know the way you ‘try on’ clothes without actually putting them on, people were staring at me probably thinking I was nuts. And I am.

It’s not a new thing to wear children’s clothes, gosh, there are 10 year olds bigger than me these days, and I’m pretty much the same size as I was at 13, different shape, but similar weight and same height. I’m not particularly thin, but I’m a small person. Sometimes I’ll scan the children’s section for clothes with a smaller fit, or something campy and fun, and often they are cheaper than women’s clothes. As for this dress… it was 50 cents, so I took a gamble. And sure enough it fit alright… a little tight, but I rather liked it..Plus it has a built in petticoat.

Do you ever wear children’s clothes?

It’s officially autumn in my heart. Most of my life I’ve lived in ultra-mild climates, so autumn has always been more a fashion shift than a seasonal change. Here in woodsy Germany, the trees are turning yellow and red and there’s a chill in the air and at times gloomy grey skies. The colorful shower of leaves and acorns on the ground are so lovely, I’ve never really experienced that before.

These past few weeks I’ve been avoiding the camera, mostly because I was sick all last week and it was a miracle if I changed my pajamas, much less don an outfit suitable for documentation. So… now I’m resorting to integrating some of my summer clothes, the oversized tunic I lived in all summer over a turtle neck, accessorized in black and brown. Tweed, of course is the ultimate atumnal texture. And lastly the vintage fur cap, I found at the market…it’s not quite cold enough yet, but I’m waiting.

If you have a dog that needs walking, I’m your gal. Though I imagine that professional dog walkers don’t wear heels on the job, well, at least the one I know doesn’t. I’m sure that it’s possible, as long as the walks stay on the pavement, and the dogs don’t do their *ahem* bizness.

While, I may be a primadonna dog walker, I am really good with dogs. Dogs just love to be walked in style, by a woman wering heels and pearls. They may not tell you that’s what they want, they may pretend not to care, but really, they do.

Thanks to Fin, Rocky’s mom’s dog for being such a good model.

I would never think of making a point to visit a cemetery unless absolutely necessary until I came to Europe. Walking through Munich, we happened upon an old cemetery filled with beautiful sculptures and old typography (my other love). I know it’s rather dark to show a cemetery, but though I’ve been to these before like Abney Park in London, there is a certain kind of beauty that gives me an appreciation for life, being reminded that my time here is limited and it’s up to me to live the most I can.

Stateside, we call them pretzels… But in Germany, they are yummy crunchy on the outside, chewy in the middle bretzels. I love both the way they look and the way they taste, maybe as much as I love a good French baguette. Hmm… thank god, carbophobia is so 2005.

Here I am folded up on the stairs trying to fit in the frame… I feel like a bretzel. Mixing crunchy masculine and chewy feminine elements… a mini dress with a blazer, rolled up jeans and a scarf tied up kind of like a bretzel.
