I just love the season’s colors… after all, according to Color Me Beautiful, I am an Autumn. All summer, I’ve been collecting pieces that could be worn in autumn and summer months, nice warm browns and rich pinks, finally it’s time to bring them out.

Here we have some high waisted tweed trousers, cardigan, sequined sweater… and even, if you like to plan ahead for Halloween, I found the perfect Dorothy dress. Click on the image to be taken to the listing.

Wow, time is flying by so quickly…I didn’t eve realize it’ been a few weeks since I put anything new in the shop… but I’ve been finding great little pieces here and there, much were too heavy to even think about in summer heat. But now as it gets closer to the fall, we can start thinking about things like boots and cashmere.

I was lucky enough to find a Hugo Boss cashmere sportcoat. The texture of the blazer is so lovely, it was impossible to pass up even if it’s squarely a menswear piece. Luckily when I got home it was fun to play with, since belts and slouchy blazers are going hand in hand this season. As for the Laredo fringe cowboy boots? You better believe I wish I was a US size 10… because these are awesome.

As though they were trying to make order out of chaos. Of course, I pick the superficial reason for choosing an occupation.

This weekend I found loads of scarves, ties, and trousers, mixed with some glasses… I decided to go with what someone like Ray Eames would wear in the 50’s, a West Coast architect or furniture designer. Not that this is anything like what she would wear, but I’ve always been inspired by her and other women who had interesting careers at that time. (Not that I’m not inspired by women with interesting careers today… sorry, my brain isn’t werking so well). Anyway, to the shoppe!

Every year, there is an ‘It’ color… remember yellow? Jewel tones are big one season, then neutrals the next, the powers that be, always tend to try to quantify the ‘next black.’ Remember when black was gloomy? There was a time… once… now it’s basic. I myself keep going to red and black. My first (non-wet’n'wild) lipstick was Elizabeth Arden ‘Red Door’ (it was the 80’s)… my perfect red. It’s a color combination I never tire of.

These past few weeks, I’ve been lucky with hats… I know not everyone likes my shoulder pad hats… What the heck? Wearing them with my recent finds was a lot of fun.

*new to us anyway.

I am a shoe person. I love shoes, they are my absolute favorite thing to shop for. Shoe shopping is so nice when you’re feeling blue, mostly because they’re easy to try on, and there’s never that ‘ugh, i fit into a smaller size last year’. Anyway, it was wonderful to find a selection of secondhand vintage shoes. I try to buy vintage shoes as much as possible (even though I am so coveting the gladiator wedge and whatever’s on Imelda). In response to the comments about my new Oxfords, I found three pairs, and of course since it’s the summer of gladiators, I found really interesting hand-worked cage sandals, and the strappier, the better.

This week, the shop will have a new schedule, because I’ll be going to Paris this Friday (more about that later). I have some really great pieces on the way!!

This week in the shoppe, I’ve got some great lovelies full of quirkiness and whimsy. An equestrian skirt, a thriller dress, a semi-transparent Sunday dress… oh deary dear. I also found some nice sweaters I couldn’t say no to.. well you know how it is, the cool summer evening barbecues… you need them right?

If something has an element that’s somehow different and beautiful, I’ll be drawn to it.

This summer, I’ve been inspired by so many different things, floral prints, sheer, stripes, lace… ugly-pretty. It’s a lot of fun trying out different looks and developing the voice of the shoppe. Since the shoppe started, I’ve noticed a theme in what I like, not in a blatant way, but more in unique details. If something has an element that’s somehow different and beautiful, I’ll be drawn to it.

Thanks to the fabulous WendyB, I’ve been able to find the lovely Super Kawaii Mama who bought the Red Leopard cardi.

And I was particularly delighted when Susie Bubble purchased the Faux Fur Bolero… for a number of reasons. One because I love her, two being it’s a unique piece, and I know she could style it perfectly, and also because she has such a great appreciation for a variety of silhouettes, inspiring me to experiment more with shoulder pads. I had such a hard time myself letting go of this but I’m so happy it found a good home.
