Fight the Monday Blues with a Chunky Red Sweater

red chunky swater

Mondays… they’re tough. No matter how you cut it, I’m always slow on Monday morning. Ironically, that’s when it’s probably the best to have the MOST amount of energy! Anyway, when you got the Monday blues, sometimes it’s just as well to fake it ’til you make it.

I’ve been lusting over the Free People off the shoulder sweater for ages. Nothing seems more right these days than a bright red sweater to snuggle up to. However, I spotted a pile of wool red sweaters (the Free People one is acrylic) at H&M of all places for half the price. Now it’s not as snuggly granted, but I did like the fit enough and the price was right… so I snagged it. I have to say that wearing a bit of red really does get the spirits up. And it’s almost just in time for the holiday season (though I like to wait until AFTER Thanksgiving to start getting all Christmasy).

Last week, Jene de Spain dropped off this beautiful necklace. We had met in the summer, and she asked me about what I would like to do if I could make jewelry. I told her the story about my mother, how she is Native American and was adopted by a white family. About 15 years ago, her birth sisters found her and we’ve been getting to know each other since, and becoming a family again. I thought it would be cool do do something about that story, so she made this necklace. I thought it was really beautiful, and I really love wearing it, it’s so easy and light weight, and goes with anything.

Of course red shoes to make my feet happy!

Your sweater looks so cozy! What a great fall piece. I never would have thought to wear those red sandals with socks either, but you really rock them!

Also, that necklace is beautiful. I love that it tells a story about your family history. It makes it so special.
