This year, Charlotte Olympia has become one of my favorite shoe designers. There are few shoe designers who could, quite possibly make a fun exhibition, and Charlotte Olympia is one of them. Her shoes are whimsical, quirky funny. You know what you’re looking at right away, and while sometimes that can get cheesy real quick, she pulls it off like no one else can.
Yesterday, I went to the Spring preview and fell in love with her Sirens collection. Like fairy tales for your feet, each of these told a story while making your outfit. The one that really stood out to me was the ones with the swirly wire heels, like 1950′s patio furniture or perhaps a secret garden? Imagine attending a garden party wearing a white chiffon dress and lounging on a deck chair. That’s where this took me!
I also liked the sea shells and beautiful espadrille platforms. While, I generally stay away from anything more than a 3/4 inch platform (fear of heights) these could change my mind!
I aslo love her lucite bags… so dainty!

She also did a collection for Matthew Williamson this season, loved the green heel!

I love the ones for Matthew Williamson especially, but I am so OVER the super-high heels of late. I have no problem with a 3 or 4 inch heel at all. I find them pretty wearable. But six inches? Even with a platform, they are semi-ridiculous, IMO. Let’s dial it back a bit, shoe designers!
I also like the white lattice heels, but I think they’d be more striking if the front of the shoe wasn’t so busy also. It’s like those two parts of the shoe should not be together.
But overall she does beautiful work! Thanks for sharing!

Charlotte Olympia is one of my faves too. Everything is so amazing. I’ve been obsessed with her stuff for awhile now. Lately I’ve been crushing on her kitty flats which have been seen on Katy Perry, Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung.

That clutch is absolutely out of this world amazing. I love pieces that are different, and Charlotte Olympia excels at making all of her accessories look one-of-a-kind.

All of her designs are incredibly intricate and clover!
I love the platform espadrilles, but their design points out what I perceive to be a dangerous element for one’s balance. The front platform is cut up into a “rocker,” so when you walk with a normal heel-to-toe rolling motion you roll forward; it’s an inherent imbalance that the wearer then must take into account with each and every step. No sprinting for taxis or trains in those, and the higher the platform the worse the risk. These shoes look downright unstable, although when was stability of paramount importance?
a star in rising! they are walking art pieces!
Wow, wearable art. Who knew the heel of the shoe had so much artistic potential!

Love the shoes — as objets d’art. But I can’t imagine wearing any of them. While I’m not at all an advocate of my grandmother’s “sensible shoes,” I’m rather tired of all of the over-priced, unwearable, and often dangerous footwear that is currently in fashion.
Those are all true pieces of art, magnificent!!!!

You totally hit it right on the money with those first shoes – perfect for any sort of spring/summer outdoor event! Provided that there is full pavement there of course – walking the grass would not be an option haha
