Chic Boutiques : Anica

by jennine on May 12, 2010

anica boutique

When Anica boutique first opened in San Francisco, four years ago, I remember seeing their post cards around the Russian Hill end of Polk Street. Anica has always carried the brands that I drooled over and kept with the times. Right now what’s in stock is Acne, Alexander Wang, Anica’s own line, Lizzie Fortunato, Maison Martin Margiela, Mociun, Opening Ceremony, Rachel Comey, Rosenmunns, and Shin. The boutique is nestled on the pretty side of Polk Street in Russian Hill (I say that lovingly, Polk is one of my favorite streets ins San Fransisco), near French cafes, rice pudding shops, antique shops and a few other darling boutiques.

Owner, Rati Sahi, wanted to create a place where women could experiment with clothes in a comfortable setting. Wearing more avant garde clothing can be intimidating for a lot of women who may not be model thin, or used to wearing more experimental silhouettes and textures. Rati gives a lot of personal attention (when needed) to her clients, and encourages a sense of playful chic. Here we talk with Rati about Anica, what’s in store, and what to expect next season…

Oh yes, she is great with color isn’t she? I am always afraid of peaches. She mixes her pieces so well… I wish I looked that great in sweatpants…even A.Wang sweats.

Love the handbag in the video. What an interesting idea – being able to change it’s shape with snaps!

Totally random, but I miss SF! Just seeing that Muni in the background of the picture almost made me cry. I only “lived” there for 3 months while taking a course, but I daydream about going there and staying for as long as I want to (forever, maybe?) And I would so visit this store if I was there right now :/
