Denim & Lace

denim and lace

Lately, my closet seems to be bursting at the seams with nothing. I don’t know, maybe there are some clothes to wear… you know the feeling. Maybe it’s just the mood of the day, or maybe, it’s just time to do some shopping. Either way, I find myself playing with the clothes I have trying out new things to see if I can breath some new life into them. One of them is this lace dress, which I tend to like to pair with denim… last year (almost to the day), I did a denim vest, and this year, a cropped jacket picked up on sale at Banana Republic for $22. Where the heck did my other denim jackets go? I usually have like 4 of them, but, no, nowadays it’s just this one.

For ages, I’ve wanted to have a glove belt, or use gloves for something else besides to wear on my hands, here I did a small hack to create a glove belt out of satin opera gloves and an existing black belt, and some safety pins… it was nice, but I want to give it some more wears to see what to do. Here’s the first glimpse. And my new favorite handbag… it’s vintage, and needs a new handle, but it fits my wallet, lipstick and phone quite well!

Whenever I visit your blog I vow to go vintage/op-shopping but always chicken out at the last moment. Is there a knack to finding the right stuff? Because in the past I’ve gone to a Salvation Army store and come out empty-handed.

Oh my! How creative of you! You look wonderful, as always. I’m definitely on the hunt for a good vintage jean jacket these days… it’s much harder to find the perfect one than one would think! Yours is definitely the style I’m searching for. One day, one day, it’ll cross my path. :p

Great Diy on the glove belt, and the vitage bag makes it look very ‘alternitive chic’

I love this outfit! Gee, between you and Rhiannon (Liebemarlene Vintage), I’m kicking myself for giving away my perfectly-shrunken denim jacket a couple years ago! :p I like how it adds a sporty vibe to the whole look and keeps it from looking too precious. The glove-as-a-belt idea is genius!

I know what you mean about having a closet of nothing… I think for me it’s a sign that I need to go through, organize and purge as needed. At the very least, get out some pieces and start playing dress up to come up with new outfits! ;)

Don’t you love when you dress the same around the same time? You and WendyB are good for that.

I like the belt hack. Very pretty.

That is a GREAT bag. Have you considered using a heavy gold/brass chain for the handle? I just did this with an old alligator bag and it works perfectly if you match the color of the bag’s hardware. (this is the only DIY advice anyone will ever get from me because I rarely DIM)
