Yours is actually the best post I've read about this subject. I think bloggers have to accept that there is indeed some bad apples among you or the bloggers attitude risks being as generalized as that of the editors, this discussion does not need to have only to sides. I do think Tavi is a problem and I can totally understand that finally someone felt the need to talk. The girl is forever gushing about her sponsors and her opinions do not add a single thing of value to any sort of fashion discussion. On the other hand there are blogs like yours, Kingdom of style, Style Bubble that would be a pity if they were seen in the light of Tavi or Sea of Shoes.

I think it's true not everyone is critical or professional or equipped- bloggers, editors, and other fashionistas alike. That doesn't mean they don't learn to be more critical in their own tastes and grow in the industry. Nor does it mean that all grow. Some get swept away in what everyone else is saying or who gifted them or who's breathing down their neck or where the $ is coming from.

The important thing is to be you and do what calls to you. Sometimes that means taking campaigns to aid the livelihood or turning down ones that you just can't get behind even though it would help the backend of things. I think with editors and such they have politics to deal with and lose their own taste in the push and pull of it all, whereas most bloggers are independent and able to give closer to their taste sans sponsorship.

Ok, first, you are VERY important.

Secondly, you're spot on about the sound bites and stirring up controversy. Magazine editors have to do something to keep themselves in the limelight. what with bloggers taking over the world and al ; )

Well written piece Jennine. Uneducated bloggers? They must not be reading you!

Honestly, I think that everyone is accused of selling out at some point in time - regardless of their chosen field. Bloggers, book reviewers, musicians. It is a vicious cycle that continues; and, if you ask me, oftentimes stems from envy. :)
