Win a Bottle of a Limited-Edition DKNY Be Delicious

by Sonja on August 5, 2009

DKNY Be Delicious

It’s time to win some fabulous perfume! DKNY Be Delicious was just introduced in a fun, limited-edition pop art bottle – complete with ben-day dots that were the hallmark of the art of Roy Lichenstein. The fragrance itself is delightful. It’s a fresh, sexy scent that sparkles with apple and grapefruit, and is balanced by the addition of magnolia, violet, and sandalwood.

The Delicious art ad and comic strip were created by comic art illustrator Brad Hamann as an homage to New York’s pop art tradition. They put together a cool TV spot, which you can see here.

The Eau de Parfum Spray ($55 – $70) is now available at Sephora and Macy’s in the U.S.

How to Win

One lovely Coveted reader is going to win a bottle of DKNY Be Delicious in the limited-edition, pop art packaging. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment about what you like about the new bottle and/or the fragrance. One entry per person. Please note: this is only open to residents of the U.S. and U.K. We’ll accept entries through Wednesday, August 12. Good luck!

Winner to Be Announced Soon

The giveaway entry period is closed. We’ll announce a winner soon!

I love the new packaging. I don’t have a lot of extra money, so I haven’t had the opportunity to purchase this fragrance before, but I’ve smelled it numerous times and I love it. It is a nice and FRESH fragrance.

The packaging is great. It reminds me of the Brady Bunch for some reason. Total 70′s! I love the whole Graphic Novel / Comic Strip look of the ad too.

Hooray!

(oh wow, would you also send it to germany?)
perfumes are always marketed as making you sexier, or being flirty, which somehow bores me. but in this case it is different, since the comic delivers the message kinda cool…

Yum! I have to admit, while the bottle is very Lichtensteinian & pop-art, I also love that its a playful nod at the apple scent, too.

I was a bit thrown off to read about the apple scent, but love that its paired with violet, sandalwood & magnolia… it seems like it’d be a very natural scent.

I love that it’s fresh and slightly sweet without being cloying. It’s actually one of my current signature scents – apple and cucumber-y, almost. It smells like… going back to school (that’s when I got my first bottle) and leaving green apples on hot-teacher’s desk. Haha…

It’s a great scent to move from summer to fall.

I’ve been addicted to this fragance for two years now, have also the red version for the winter and I simply love them.
Very fresh, not too sweet and quite unisex as my male best friend keeps wanting to steal the bottle when I’m not looking. If he saw this new bottle he would want it even more!

You gotta love Donna Karan :P

This scent first came out when I visited New York for the first time four years ago. I love that it reminds me of spending time with my mom in the fall.

Sev. August 5, 2009 at 8:54 am

My favourite thing is that the bottle looks like a scrumptious green apple–green apples are my favourite! The bottle makes me want to wear the perfume right now, even though I have never smelled it.

amanda August 5, 2009 at 8:54 am

I love polka dots and I’ve always loved fresh fragrances like this. I tend to lean more towards florals/orientals, but this definitely struck me as perfectly springy.

Indigo August 5, 2009 at 9:02 am

I’ve been trying to find a time when I can buy this delicious smelling fragrance for the past three years! It has always been just too expensive for what I am willing to spend on a scent. I usually stray away from perfumes & such because they all smell overly done, but there is something about this fresh & magical scent that makes it seem as more of a lacy top compared to being an overcoat like most perfumes.

I love be delicious because its a great spring/summer fragrance. not too strong and isn’t overbearing.
Love the new packaging, very modern and retro at the same time. it’s very “now.”

I love the pop art design and fragrance as it brings back two great memories. Studying art back in Uni and visiting New York for the first time. Every time I wear this perfume it puts a smile on my face.

Great timing, I have been thinking about buying a new fragrance for the past few days! Okay…I love the modern, pop-art style of the packaging, and the delicious green colour! It really does look like a juicy apple bursting with flavour…yum!

Betsey J August 5, 2009 at 10:01 am

I haven’t gotten a chance to smell it yet…but I love anything that’s pop art inspired. Even if I didn’t like the scent, I’d display the bottle as a piece of art in my house.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away and with all this swine flu panic, I could sure use a protective apple-shaped perfume bottle. In case its magical form doesn’t do the trick, at least I’ll smell lovely and feel better anyway. :)

Sherri Johnson August 5, 2009 at 10:17 am

I like the new whimsical packaging and I truly LOVE the smell..it is pleasantly distracting when I am frustrated with the daily grind…and it helps me relax….

Kate August 5, 2009 at 10:17 am

I have to say that I’m immediately draw to green as it’s become so synonymous with freshness and sustainability. I love how the style of the bottle channels pop art and is a fun departure from the traditional fragrance bottle style.

Lydia Hudgens August 5, 2009 at 10:34 am

I’m a huge fan of pop art, over the top mod stylings and loud colors. Also a huge nerd and picture a comic girl with bright red lips chomping down on this green apple happily – that tv spot hits it on the head. Would love to display this, not to mention a fresh fragrance with subtle undertones is hard to come by!

I love the fusion of art and fashion in this new DKNY fragrance bottle. It truly is the essence of pop art in showing that packaging and functional objects can be objects of art too. The new bottle will make the deliciousness of be delicious even more delectable!

Yifen August 5, 2009 at 10:51 am

I love this apple scent! Though I’ve conveniently sampled it at dept. stores before, I’ve never had the budget to buy it. But it’s really fresh and even though I’m not a huge fan of eating apples, it smells delicious~

The new packaging is whimsical and I like how it’s different from the original, which is also nice, but more serious and mature.

amy August 5, 2009 at 11:16 am

gaaah i love this! be delicious has been my signature scent for about 4 years and it would be lovely to be treated to a bottle!

Claire August 5, 2009 at 11:32 am

I have obsession with polka dots, green and anything remotely kitch so me winning this mean that perfume bottle is winning a lovely home:)

Michelle August 5, 2009 at 11:36 am

I love the color of the bottle! When I was a kid, I used to automatically assume any candy that neon green color would be awesomely flavored and would try it all. This usually resulted in stomachaches and crankiness later.

i am not crazy about wearing a perfume, nor am i a big fan of the “standard” be delicious fragrance, i just love the packaging. the shape makes it a real hand charmer (can i say that?). and most of all, as its print is not perfectly sharp, it makes it a personal little object, you could really start to love and want to carry with you all day. that’s all :) cheers

Kayla August 5, 2009 at 11:47 am

Over here in Sweden, summer lasts for about three days. After that, it’s back to dull, gray, chilly times. I’m sure DKNY Be Delicious’s summer fresh apple fragrance and lovely bottle would not only cheer me up, but also remind every Swede passing me on the street that summer eventually will come back.

What a cute bottle!!

kathi August 5, 2009 at 3:34 pm

Oh this bottle totally reminds me of a poster by Roy Lichtenstein I used to have as a child. I used to stare at it every night before I went to sleep and imagined i’d be in this scene, be the woman shown on the poster. Wow, I really like it. So, yeah, of course i think it is very well designed, I like it better than the normal version.

*fingerscrossed, maybe I try to buy that poster again if I win the bottle

This is actually the first perfume my mother and I both agreed on. We have such opposing tastes (or at least we usually do). Me owning a fun pop-art bottle would help me feel safe– you know like I’m not turning into my mother.

Plus I love that the scent makes me crave a healthy food (green apples). It’s so much better than the scents that make me want cake or candy! ha

Kels August 5, 2009 at 4:22 pm

love the new limited edition packaging – gives the bottle a bit more “punch” and pizazz. much more fun.

I love the design. I think this perfume is really chic in it’s aesthetic and it’s actual scent as well. I’d be super excited to own it.

FaithJ August 6, 2009 at 7:06 am

Thanks for the giveaway! As a graphic designer, I appreciate DKNY’s alternative advertising, what I mean is the break from the traditional perfume ad: photography of flowers, beautiful women and sexy clothing.

Lucy August 6, 2009 at 9:55 am

YEEEE! Thanks so much for this! What I love about the bottle? I’ve always loved the Be Delicious bottle because it looks like an apple…and it’s a beautiful shade of green! But I love how they made a grass green color for this limited edition bottle. And I love Roy Lichtenstein’s works so the halftone dots are a plus!

First of all, this post caught my eye because I am a HUGE fan of Roy Lichtenstein. I saw his exhibit at the SF MOMA and it was one of the coolest moments of my life. His style translates well into a perfume bottle design, so kudos to DKNY for creating a beautiful product!

I just love the bottle and the packaging…it reminds of Andy Warhol.
Thanks so much for the fabulous giveaway!

rb August 6, 2009 at 4:05 pm

I love the packaging. Unlike a regular glass bottle, this would look interesting sitting in my dresser, and I’d remember to wear it because it stands out.

Inness August 6, 2009 at 5:02 pm

The packaging is fun, but what I really love is the scent! The smell of apples builds anticipation for my favorite season, fall, while grapefruit gives a nostalgic nod to summer (and wakes me up). The snappy, sweet scent isn’t overly cloying–it’s crisp, just like my fall wardrobe [yearns to be]. The undertones of magnolia, sandalwood, and violet lend it a subtle sexiness, like a flash of skin on an otherwise buttoned-up woman. Yum!

Naomi August 6, 2009 at 9:57 pm

I love the shade of bottle green- so mod!

tassy August 7, 2009 at 1:58 pm

I’ve never tried this fragrance before but apple and grapefruit defintely appeals to me. I love the pop art look of the bottle!
