Laura Dols: Vintage Femme

laura dolsThe morning after Lichting, I had free to roam around Amsterdam. Unfortunately it rained, but I was determined to make it out there, for at least a few hours. Upon recommendation from Eva at G-Star, I checked out the lovely Laura Dols vintage boutique in the 9 Streets district. Of all the vintage shops I’ve been to in my entire life, this shop is in a class all it’s own. Superbly girly, ruffly, embroidered and lacy the shop oozes femininity of years past. I just fell in love with the pastel colors, the chiffon flowered hats, and dainty shoes. Unlike a lot of vintage shops, this one is well-edited, it smells nice, and the price points are reasonable, and in my experience, most vintage shops have one or two of the three, but never all three.

Since this will probably be my last shopping venture in Europe before we head back to the States, I wanted to get something that I couldn’t get stateside. I kind of wanted to get something Dutch, but ended up getting an embroidered blouse marked Linz which probably means it’s from Austria, or maybe Linz am Rhein… but I have a feeling not. I also picked up a vintage brassiere, which I’m wearing here as a tank underneath the super cropped embroidered blouse. Both of them together cost me about €20.

Here I’m wearing the blouse and brassiere (as a tank) with a thrifted plaid skirt and second hand Ferragamos, and a Basque beret found in the closet. The bird pin is from Stories by RikkeMai and I’m also wearing a bow ring, but somehow it didn’t make it all the way into any of the photos. Woops. Anyway, I realize I’m a bit matchy-matchy but I kind of miss matchy-matchy, it seems easier in a way.

I ADORE this look– there’s something so classic about it, so authentic in its look, and it’s perfect.

Matchy-matchy is too under-rated, I think. I love some good contrast, but… matching works.

Matchy-matchy is pretty in some ways. Especially if you mix up the textures as you’ve done here. Love that lipstick on you, BTW.

Congrats on the purchases! I used to live in Amsterdam, and the Nine Streets were my favorite place to stroll. Did you manage to go to both Laura Dols stores? I have a friend who even managed to get her wedding dress there. In any case, fab look!
