Asli Filinta Istanbul: Fool’s Experiment

How often do you hear a designer say they are inspired by music? Ok, maybe not every time, but it’s certainly one of the usual suspects. For the upcoming SS10 (also dubbed as Summer Song), Asli Filinta Istanbul will release her collection in conjunction with an album titled ‘Fool’s Experiment’. Each piece is named like a song, a jacked named Wrong Places and a pair of leggings titled Golden Shot. Originally from Turkey, and currently based in New York, designer Asli Filinta has taken an artistic approach to her collections. Initially starting from hats and accessories, she’s used those design sensibility to create off the wall collections with delightful stories. A previous collection, she made these hats inspired by chocolate kisses, so seeing gumballs and comic shapes (you know, like, POW!) would only be the next step in the evolution of joyful fashion that doesn’t take itself so seriously.
