Who Knew? Icons Matter…

I never thought much about my icon….. the one I currently use, is from last year I did a post about messy hair, on purpose… and used an icon from that photo series, haven’t bothered to update (though maybe I should). Last week, someone on Twitter pointed out this illustration by Carol Del Angel ‘is this The Coveted?’.

Carol’s not a reader of this blog, she just saw the icon, and was inspired by it…

‘I normally change my drawings of faces so that they are not recognisable but your photo was very inspiring and turned out so well that I didn’t want to adjust it, I hope you don’t mind.’

My hair does often feel like a bird’s nest. Anyway, I really loved looking through her portfolio I would pretty much agree with her statement:

Most of Carol Del Angel’s images are digitally created, whilst her collage work is a mix of mainly digitally created elements with some photography and sometimes a little freehand to create a look that is similar to hand-made collage in composition but is more graphic, cleaner and more fluid.

So, it may be a tiny square, but apparently people notice  icons…

I’m almost scared to change my icon. I like it too much and think it’s easy to find in a long page of tweets. Plus, I like consistency.

Hmmm….

This illustration is amazing! beautiful lines and great color palette.
I’ve always loved your icon, i cannot really say why, maybe because it looks spontaneous and natural. It looks like you :)
