Denim and Lace

by jennine on March 27, 2009

Denim and lace… that’s so 80′s Madonna, isn’t it? Cindy Lauper? Oh my. I like the 80′s as much as then next one, I really do, but I really think it’s time to give denim and lace an update. I really love the soft colors girly-edgy juxtaposition of the combination… it can be trashy, but not always.  And as much as I wear my one pair of jeans, I absolutely live in my denim vest, at least once a week or maybe I’ll go two weeks without wearing it. I just love it. Though I’m trying to figure out new ways of appropriate it, as it’s a little too big in the shoulders, I’ve tried belting it, and using this Stories by Rikke Mai black bird pin to change it fit and add a detail.

Also… I’m holding of on posting with this but I can’t much longer… the beautiful K-Line had sent me this bendy necklace and bracelet. I’m waiting for another one as I have plans, great plans to create sculptures, but this bendy jewelry is just awesome, I can’t stop trying out new ways to wear it. So a new post/homage is going to come, dedicated entirely to the bendy necklace. Just you wait!

Outfit: vintage Levi’s denim vest ❤  Urban Outfitters lace dress  ❤ vintage ice blue slip ❤navy tights ❤ Steve Madden grey booties ❤ bird pin ❤ bendy necklace via K-Line

Oh, on a last note, Chictopia is holding a springtime attire contest, where the winner gets featured on Refinery29… I’m really hoping they’d pick me, but unless one of you enters… then I guess it’s ok if you win instead. ❤

I look mixing delicate fabrics with more rugged ones. They’ve managed this look to perfection in these shots. Stunning.

A fabulous update on this combination of materials, I think. Love that necklace-as-headband trick, too.

You’ve inspired an outfit! What else is new, lol. :-)
Reminds me of something Missa of Thrift Candy would wear.

now, if you wore a tutu skirt, then we’d say Madonna. This is subtle, I like it.
