Three Colors

by jennine on March 20, 2009

I’m fascinated by the monochromes, but have only done white…black, grey, you know… the non-colors.

At the end of my three city tour, I had a photo session with the beautiful Anne-So of Cachemire et Soie. The Modeapss crew wanted to feature me on their Un Jour Une Fille (one day a girl) series. Actually I had no idea what to expect. I brought my own clothes, some that I had also featured here, along with a theme in my mind.. monochromatics. I’m fascinated by the monochrome, but have only done white…black, grey, you know the non-colors. But with some new pieces I decided to give the monochrome a try. It turned out to be three colors, red, white, blue… not for any particular obvious reason, the colors are quite national… a lot of countries use the combo in their flags. Bah. I can’t even listen to my own national anthem without gaging. Sorry. It embarrasses me. Partially my inspiration aside from pure chance (I happened to find a blue sequin dress, a pair of red wedges) but also from the Three Colors Trilogy… a beautiful series of films, though my outfits have nothing to do with the plots… Blue is very sad, my dress happy… which by the way after seeing the Balmain blue sequin dress, I”m even more happy I already have something to quench my desires for the time being.  Anyway, I love how a film can interpret the personality of a color, perhaps something fashion does all the time.

Anne did a wonderful job with the photos, I’m always so impressed by her skills, check out the rest of the photos in her post… and she also did another series with the Holga effect. What can’t they do with digital photography these days?
