VPL must have read my mind for making lingerie inspired clothing, actually, they pre-read my mind in 2003. I’ve always loved their collections, but it didn’t occur to me that the ambiguous under/outer wear was intentional, nor did I realise that it could be a whole design ethos. At best, I thought underwear on the outside was a passing trend, until the ‘oh yeah’ moment remembering the slipdress still in existence 15 years after shocking everyone. VPL’s bras that don’t really have to actually function as bras, they can also be worn on the outside (with real bras underneath)… as I would see myself layering with my turtleneck dress and something else to be more modest.
The undies.. well, they are indeed cool, for the shorter-than-short shorts I’ve been seeing around, not just on the runways, but in editorial photography too, and to mention sighting of Dita Von Teese wearing vintage swimsuits out and about. I’m not sure if I’m ready… the whole concept is a bit shocking, really if you think about it. Once I wore a swimsuit in public (on Halloween) and it wasn’t so bad, but then again I wore leggings underneath them, and on days like Halloween, anything is pretty much fair game. Too bad it doesn’t last all year.

VPL is amazing. I used to work in the office right above them, and Victoria always had the most provocative inspiration boards, full of ladies with their bodies sectioned off with marker for liposuction, and women of all sizes in their skivies. She always had something interesting to say.

Wow, reasonably priced too! Awesome x
I love these! They are pretty without being frilly, a hard thing for underthings.
I don’t think I can wear them alone either though!
I wish someone would make a dress inspired by the nude set. How lovely….

❤MP…tell me about it… i’ve always envied girls who can wear the cute bras, i have to spend in the 3 digits if i want a cute bra that actually works.
❤charm.. oh me too… or maybe pair it with the aa turtleneck dress in nude. that would be interesting.
❤anne & meli… agreed, i really really want leggings like that now! maybe even knit ones? hmmm….
now YOU just read my mind, i was gonna do a post about vpl, too
I adore the b-fractional bra! I’ve been pondering whether it will be worth 175$, but i think it is so versatile, i can imagine many many outfits.
love tiffany’s comment, I often wish I could take a little peek into a designer’s mind
VPL is the bestest. I love its simplicity, yet it’s so so different than anything I’ve ever seen.
I’ve always loved their stuff!
I’m not sure what to make of this…really!
