When in doubt… add more gold

by jennine on January 2, 2009

For those who know me, I’ve always preferred yellow gold to silver… and it’s not always been seen as the more tasteful choice… with connotations of New Jersey and Miami. But then again, I’ve been obsessed with the Sopranos and I’d love to go to Miami. Lately I’ve been noticing gold tones to be surfacing all around… and I’m craving more. Perhaps its the sign of the times, in economic turmoil, we’ll just act as if the roads are paved with gold, because eventually… it will manifest.

I have recently made peace with the idea of wearing yellow gold, and now I love it and want to wear ropes of it! Fun post!

Love it!

And I LOVE The Sopranos too! Paulie is my dream man!

I think matte yellow gold is the most tasteful look in jewelry, because it’s not blindingly bling-y. My pet peeve related to gold is when people call white gold “silver.” Augh!

That gold jacket ought to be in a museum one day, for sure

I love those Asos black peeptoe booties with the gold bottom, but I’m way too lame to wear much gold. Maybe that should be another of my new year’s resolutions, to embrace the gold? It does look fabulous when done right.

I’ve always been partial to silver and platinum, but with my skin tone, I can easily pull off gold too. I agree with WendyB, I like the look of matte gold, unless it’s on vintage Chanel – the shinier and more gaudy, the better.

I’m actually getting a gold name plate necklace made that says “Debutante”. I’ll share when I get it.

I will have to do something about this. I actually don’t have anything in gold. There’s this thing about gold being precious and I never really had hearts to spend much on ‘gold’ but now I see all kinds of stuff in ‘gold’ and it’s no longer linked to ‘grandma’ style.

I could not agree more!

It’s taken me years to embrace bling-y gold (and sometimes just even regular gold!). I have a soft spot for that antique gold though, that’s dark and tarnished looking…

(you’re not the only one wanting to go to Miami!)

Gorgeous collage, all the stuff in there is a dream. And that gold jacket, A WORK OF ART! I remember reading about it in another blog.. susie bubble I think..

Meg January 4, 2009 at 8:22 am

Am loving the collage. Yeah, it’s weird how gold has suddenly made a huge comeback, and while I love flat gold, I’m still hoping I’m not going to be blinded on the street by people wearing questionable amounts of jewellery.

I also know what you mean about yellow gold, being an Indian girl I didn’t even know there was any other kind until 4 years ago, but my love for yellow gold remains unfaltering…who else would ‘borrow’ my mother’s jewellery if the case was otherwise.

Jill January 4, 2009 at 9:37 am

Yellow gold has always looked better on me, and I think most people, but I succumbed to the silver trend…luckily I kept most of my gold stash. Rose gold is really my favorite.

meligrosa January 4, 2009 at 11:25 am

Im def. more of a silver fanatic, but this collage is delicious. Id totally wear most of this stuff LOL esp. that top right corner bracelet action thats goin on, just super!

Prêt-à-Porter P January 5, 2009 at 10:25 am

i usu prefer to wear silver since it looks better on my skin, but i love to wear gold and silver together, but not gold just by itself.

Kimandra January 6, 2009 at 4:12 am

our new crush as well!

SwanDiamondRose January 8, 2009 at 1:32 pm

GOLD! YES!

especially shoes. oh god.

MizzJ January 10, 2009 at 5:42 pm

I didn’t always love gold and preferred silver up until recently, now I love it! Both tones are flattering on everyone and are always modern and fun. However, gold is what I prefer at the moment as it gives a bit more warmth than silver.
