Going Ornamental

by jennine on December 12, 2008

You know it’s inevitable…. one of these days we’re going to be the old ladies who wear ornaments and Christmas sweaters. OH my… maybe even some of us have already started, with the Santa Hats, and playing the Christmas radio station the day after Halloween. Well, it’s starting for me. Ever since I saw Kingdom of Style’s Deer Necklace, I can’t get that image out of my head. “I want it, I want it”. I think as I’m browsing through the ornaments at the Christmas Market, only here in Germany, many ornaments are wooden, which is absolutely lovely, and I found this wooden laser cut stag that works perfectly into a necklace.

The Outfit

Necklace: DIY: Ornament on a silver chain
Sweater & Blouse: Thrifted
Skirt: Cynthia Rowley
Belt: Bebe
Shoes: Marc Jacobs
Makeup: Loreal 860 Spice (very 90’s)

You look great in this outfit! And your necklace is so cute. I like that he’s a mighty mighty stag instead of a cute doe.

I think it’s great you incorporated a cool holiday accessory with your outfit! I love your make-up and your style is always amazing. Speaking of Christmas sweaters, you should check out this story I wrote for my journalism class last year. Here is a link to it: http://sweetypsylefiles.blogspot.com/2008/01/heres-christmas-sweater-story-season.html. Let me know what you think.

That’s brilliant! I have some laser cut ornaments I got from Prague, I wonder if any of them would work in the same way? Have to dig them out and check now!

I love that lipstick too!

I love your outfit!

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him…

Ahhh Loreal 860 Spice – that brings back memories. I used to wear it all the time. I think I went through at least 3 tubes of it and I’m fickle I rarely finish a tube a lipstick. And I love the Stag.

That deer is so lovely, I would never have guessed it was a Christmas ornament. I love the entire look as well. I adore obi belts, and yours compliments the necklace so well!

The embroidery on the skirt adds a delicate and pretty touch to the outfit. Its a modern take on seasonal and folk bohemianism. Bravo.

Christmas sweaters? Ew.

I love that idea! I’m sort of obsessed with birds and putting bird ornaments on my tree so maybe I can find some way to put one in an outfit.

Oh, and I love your makeup!!!

OOH what an outfit! I love what you’ve done with your eyes and the shoes are killer. That skirt is wonderful and the necklace is perfect. Like Rhiannon, I am obsessed with birds and try to find any way I can to incorporate feathers and birds into my outfits. I am so close to wearing a bird ornament on my head or as a brooch…
