Yesterday Punky mentioned maybe we spend too much time on the internet. We were talking about puppies in hot dog buns at the time, but maybe we’re not the only ones. You know something has seeped into the collective conscious, ie. computers when you can literally create an entire analog environment dedicated to pixels.
Wear Pixels
I’ve been seeing pixels everywhere, heck as many hours as I spend on the computer, its uprising I dont’ dream of them. What started this off, is when I found Lina Karlsson on one of my Myspace excursions… She doesn’t have a lot written about her, but I really like how she has integrated the pixel aesthetic into the knits…

Pixel Paintings and Floors
Artist Tauba Auerbach, has done lots of interesting work with typography, and her gauche paintings of binary type are also really intriguing… the middle photo is of an installation, but I’m pretty sure someone can have this done to their floor. You just need a lot of tiles.

Have a Pixel Seat
Surprisingly enough, Christian Zuzunaga went to the same college (and degree course) I did, graduating a few years after me… he went on to RCA. He has quite an extensive portolio of pixel inspired environents…from wall panels to chairs and lounge furniture, like this Moroso sofa:

Before you get desert, you have to eat all your pixels…
Ever since I landed upon these pixel cookies by Eva Funderburg on flickr, I’ve been dying to make them. Maybe not skulls, but definitely a pixelated Christmas treat. First I have to get my hands on a Play-Dough extruder (part of the Fun Factory), then I’ll find out if I’ve outgrown eating Play-Dough.

Great collection of pixel art. Thank you for this post, I really enjoyed it.
OMG That puppy in the bun is eeeeeeeky cute. I am laughing so hard.
haha, i can’t stop clicking on that link. he looks so worried!
K-Line….I made that puppy hotdog my screensaver. Hilarious!
Oh! My hubby Jon will love these! He is a nerdy, self-proclaimed pixel pusher!
slave to the pixel
if i had that puppy screensaver, i’d never do any work.

ha! that’s awesome, rocky is one too…
Excellent post! I would like to see more pixelated prints and knits around.
I’ve been wanting that sofa for my studio for a while now. Pretty much everything I have is white, so the colors would really liven things up a bit. Plus- after that, I wouldn’t have to worry *too much* about things not matching, since I’d have a good portion of the spectrum to work with. Alas, one can dream…
The pixel sofa made me gasp in amazment, i MUST have it!
And the cookies? oh pixel baking is so on this weekend!
Have you checked out Matthew Williamson’s pixellated floral prints?
x
I want that couch!
WendyB and I must be style twins. I want that couch as well.
It’s about time we had some pixel fashion and interior design. I live with it and I love it.
I love pixels and pixelized things – maybe it’s the nostalgia? Who knows!
My sister emailed me that pic of the dog in the hot dog bun. It is so cute I was so tempted to run out and get a puppy! I wonder if Obama’s daughters have seen it…:)
Oh, that couch!
Wow, I had no idea pixels had permeated our culture so much. And I certainly didn’t expect them in cookies. How fabulous.
By the time you got to the cookies I was giggling! I really like the couch too! I don’t yet own anything in pixels.
i want the couch too… maybe we can get a dicount rate if we all go in together?
Hi. We buy the N2 collection that contains a minicollection called “Pixel Mania” and its perfect to this post if you want see the pictures you can control the web page of that brand. Its really great they recreate the old fashion videogames with pixels and do a jewelry collection really cool. I though is nice see how the new technologies come to find us even in fashion.
