I bought a pair of the 50s-inspired Ivy at Gomi NY, and loved them so much I wanted an identical pair in black. They had sold out by then, and I was so nuts about them I emailed the showroom, who forwarded me to the founder of the line, Terra. She was super nice, found me a pair in a store in Minnesota, from where I had them shipped! Crazy. I know. Best part: They were half off by then! And I finally found a perfect pair of vintage sailor jeans this Summer too, at a store in the East Village! My fave brand of eco jeans is Del Forte. I ALWAYS try to patch up my old jeans first, but once I wear through the patches, I usually say goodbye. Another great idea is at least reconstructing your jeans in to something else (MissMalaprop is great about this). Skirts, stockings, legwarmers, purses... put the fabric to use, or give it to someone who will! Denim isn't cheap to buy. I wonder if there is anyone making bamboo denim yet?
