“My philosophy is to make clothes that are comfortable but still tailored in a unique way,” says Wester. “I always focus on classic shapes and forms together with unique details.”
No…I didn’t fumble my language skills… bester is a word… in Germany, and Carin Wester is name in Sweden you should bookmark at some point (and probably now). She’s a relatively new designer from Sweden, since 2004 Wester has been recognized as an up and coming talent in Sweden and in Europe.
“My philosophy is to make clothes that are comfortable but still tailored in a unique way,” says Wester to Nylon. “I always focus on classic shapes and forms together with unique details.” Sure, that’s what they all say… but somehow Wester’s collection really does it, combining all those frilly details we want and still remaining in the bounds of sophistication and playfulness. I really like the unique forms like origami lace, or a prairie-esque seersucker blouse with ultra modern volume. Then again, there’s the ruffles… drool… you can pretty much put a ruffle on anything, and I’ll tell you I want it.

The striped button-up with batwings is brilliant. Carin Wester definitely has a unique point of view and I’m very interested to see how she continues to grow as a designer. (c:
