Sitting here, listening to Cemetery Gates by the Smiths… It’s a lovley song, but it was so far from my reality because 1. in California, the cemeteries are far away 2. there are hardly any headstones 3. it’s it’s kind of sterile and creepy. I would never think of making a point to visit a cemetery unless absolutely necessary until I came to Europe. Walking through Munich, we happened upon an old cemetery filled with beautiful sculptures and old typography (my other love). I know it’s rather dark to show a cemetery, but though I’ve been to these before like Abney Park in London, there is a certain kind of beauty that gives me an appreciation for life, being reminded that my time here is limited and it’s up to me to live the most I can.

Beautiful photos.
It is intriguing to photograph at a cemetery, I like it, anyway, someday that will be our home, so why be scared of it?

Oh, how I love cemeteries and taking photos inside them — recently I was able to visit Cimetiere Pere-Lachaise in Paris and of course, I took a great deal of photos: http://flickr.com/photos/sparrowlight/tags/perelachaise/
