Sweet Inspiration

Mustache Envy

I’ve had a long, sick fascination with mustaches. It all began at the cinema with Gangs of New York, where I realized I was strangely attracted to Daniel Day Lewis. He’s a great actor, don’t get me wrong, I loved him in every movie, but attracted? No… and when I saw him being interviewed, all clean and shaved… nothing. I couldn’t understand it. Fast forward 5 years or so… the handle bar mustache is making it’s way into modern life. Since neither myself nor Rocky (which I wouldn’t trade for his perfect skin) are capable of growing our own handlebar mustaches, perhaps we can borrow the motif…

  1. I rocked out the 70’s handle bar during the early 00’s. I intended it to be a summer thing and then two years on I realized my mo had taken on a life of it’s own and it was time shave it off!

  2. I feel your pain, Jennine. My desire for a tashe is well documented… I’m thinking that tatty devine necklace may well have to be my birthday present to myself.

p.s. sucks about Brazil, but I’m sure there will be many more chances to do something even more exciting!

  5. oh man. Daniel day Lewis was my 1st. Irish movie character crush ‹inthe name of the father›. I agree with you, in Gangs of NY he (and that mustache) was pretty awesome. He sports that look so well, he did it again in ‹There will be blood›.
Must be his secret to win Oscars…

  6. Aahh I love mustaches! My friend has one of those stupid mustache tattoo on his finger. And I really love that key holder! It’s very unassuming.

  9. A very interesting concept and considering that some very famous men have sported such a form of hair fashion makes us want to make something more out of it! Facial hair had been untouched hitherto, this perspective might jst spark off some new fash-inventions!
