There's a certain bit of ridiculousness to it that is truly lovable. I remember living in London, flipping through the tv, watching it and thinking "this is awful, but I'm drawn to it" and then going to Amsterdam the next day and talking to my friend about it, who had the same thoughts. Big love for Monsieur Tellier, he is an awesome musician. France chose well. . . I miss Eurovision. There’s a certain bit of ridiculousness to it that is truly lovable. Now in Australia, we get it televised here too!! And it is generally advertised as the crap, joke, song contest in Europe, comedians come out of the woodwork for a chance to host it whilst we also get Terry Wogan's witty comparing. But this year my English boyfriend (well educated in the history of Eurovision?!?!)pointed out to me how rediculously political the whole thing is and then went and demonstrated by predicting who would vote for who then suprised me by getting 90% of the votes RIGHT!! I was amazed!!! It wouldnt have made any difference if the entries were terrible, each country seemed to know who they were voting for before anyone even mentioned the acts. (no wonder the quality of act is such a joke) Rumour has it Terry Wogan is going to give up the compare roll soon because of this very issue! By the way... both France and Bolivia (that clothesline/knitting bride thing had me from the second it started!) were the best this year.
