You guys are seriously nuts. Lurking buyer IDs and such. Who cares? It's ONE dress...that doesn't mean she's scamming all of her dresses and everything else. What should it matter if the customer likes and enjoys it? Her target buyers aren't vintage collectors - they're young kids/adults who just want the "look." I know for a fact she would offer a refund if their purchase wasn't to their expectation.

I haven't investigated the eBay vintage sellers in question, so I won't knock them. But, for those of you who like what they're selling but can't afford it, I have some advice.

Find the item you like from one of the popular sellers. Then do an eBay search to see if a less popular seller has one like it or similar to it. 9 times out of 10, you'll find it for a fraction of the cost!

Rather than paying $300 to $400 for the flapper dress previously mentioned, the exact same dress (EXACT) can be bought from a seller who doesn't use live models for $34.00. That's a substantial savings.

You can dress like the nasty gal or indy cult crowd without giving up your summer vacation to do it.

I know it can be hard for the supporters of NGV & ICV to understand.

The flapper costumes were bought with another ID (aka *buying IDs*...sock.it.to.meee & hungry.freaks)that belongs to Nasty Gal. If you run the ID's through goofbay you will see what they have been buying. Now, compare those items with the completed auctions of Nasty Gal and you will see that the items bought with the buying ID are identical to the items being auctioned off by NGV.

Some of the items are legitimate vintage, which is fine. BUT, when she is auctioning off BRAND NEW costumes as *rare* *one-of-a-kind* vintage 80s dresses, then there IS a problem. Does that not bother some of you? I would be peeved off to no end if I paid $400 for a new, cheaply made costume.

Actually it doesn't say anything about NGV, and so what?

So what if NGV and SMV are friends? That's called community.

If you don't trust them, don't buy from them...

I don't understand why people get so weird about this stuff, honestly.

Uhhh...if you would've LOOKED at the link provided it shows NGV buying ID and the person she bought them from!

A Ebay Costume Shop! Brand new with tags, made in China five seconds ago. NOT VINTAGE!

And nastygalvintage and spanishmossvintage ARE friends. What a bunch of scammers! Wow.

Who are you to tell the difference between what of hers is vintage and what isn't? Many costumes are based off classic vintage pieces because that's exactly what they are...costumes to capture that decade.

It's well documented. There are plenty, plenty of other people who can tell you the same thing.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-roaring-20s-fringe-flapper-dress-one-size-w-access_W0QQitemZ350055125031QQihZ022QQcategoryZ53362QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Look familiar?
Anyway, these girls have tons of buying ID's and are all friends with each other so they bid regularly on each other's items to drive up prices.
They're feedback is not tarnished because their customer base for the most part is too unknowledgeable when dealing with real vintage. Like most sellers. It's unfortunate you have your doubts before doing your research. Most of those girls like NGV and Indiecult and SMV rely on exactly that type of behavior to be successful. They're just cut throat businessmen in pretty dresses.

kristen, i'm sorry you feel that way. this is just a list of ebay sellers i watch, and they all have good reputations, with excellent feedback. i don't believe that nastygal vintage would do something like that, else their feedback would be tarnished.

and from you criticism, it sounds like you have a great post to write... consistent unknown ebay sellers! that's a great post!

Nasty Gal have been buying flapper costumes (for $30) and marketing them as vintage when they're brand new (and selling for $300-$400). That's really disappointing about a so called "vintage" seller. And it does nothing to be "green".
And by mentioning sellers with already high bids, you just drive them up higher.
It would be nice if someone featured other sellers on eBay who are committed to selling a few select pieces and are actually knowledgeable and trustworthy with moderate prices.
