Green, Legs & Kamm

by jennine on April 21, 2008

women should “dress the way women did during the Depression” to find clothes they love and wear them, again, and again.

Jesse Kamm, one of LA’s rising stars in fashion and purveyor of sustainability… Her philosophy is to create high quality “timeless pieces” that aren’t a part of the throw away culture that exist. She produces her collection in limited editions, 50 per design. According to an interview in Nylon Magazine, Kamm believes that women should “dress the way women did during the Depression” to find clothes they love and wear them, again, and again.

Cutting back on consumption doesn’t have to mean deprivation or sacrifice by any means… Jesse Kamm puts a great deal of work into each garment, with fine details and hand printing. It’s this kind of attention put into timeless pieces that gives longevity to fashion and style, the attention that makes you want to hold onto a dress, or a tunic, or a classic skirt so that it becomes part of you.

the skirt in the second pic: I have been DYING to get my hands on a skirt like that. semi-full, pockets, high waisted. I was thinking of pairing it with a thin white racer back tank. where do I buy?

I couldn’t agree more. My goal this year – when i have the cash, is to start stocking my wardrobe with some more expensive pieces that will last forever. I love that second skirt too – gorgeous!

I love that first dress! At first I thought it was a tad too quirky but it grew on me more and more. Perfect for a night out, or throw on a cardigan for day.

I love her designs. Where can we buy them??? One a side, somewhat snarkier note, i’m sooooo sick of all these blank-faced models. Is it really so un-hip to see an actual smile or expression on someone??

sorry, wasn’t trying to be contentious or make a judgement about your post (which i love). i just happened to click thru to her site and felt annoyed by the models. but i’m always annoyed by models. :-)
