Heimstone

I know I’ve talked before about effortless style, as to exactly what that means or even if it’s an urban myth. Effortless style may exist amongst unicorns and the filthy rich, and maybe even in a land far away, like France. The French seem to look so cool even when not completely composed and matched. Leaving hair slightly tossed and and makeup undone, and still looking fresh.

How is that done? When I leave the house sans-eyebrow people ask me if I’m ok.

The French seem to look so cool even when not completely composed and matched.

French design label Heimstone, seems to have perfectly captured the effortless mystique with their collection. I didn’t really quite know how the whole thing was done, or even if effortless was a hoax, but my boyfriend, an (industrial) designer, has this thing about European design. Simplicity with a strong gesture. That’s what I get out of these dresses, there is nothing particularly new about the colors or the silhouette, but the details are so strong and unusual that it doesn’t take much to wear them causally and make a statement at the same time.

Perhaps that’s the paradox of effortless style that eludes me so much, or maybe I just need to brush my hair less.

If you haven’t seen this Heimstone video, it’s adorable. And if you want to find where to get the dresses, they are available at Anica, Le Train Bleu, and Satine Boutique.

Heimstone makes a beautiful dress! I particularly love the third one, the buttons, the colors the pockets, it’s your whole ensemble!

The concept of effortless style eludes me too!

I love that first dress, with the elbow length sleeve and the white trim. And the studs! I need some more throw-on-and-go dresses…

Wow, these are great. It would be wonderful to have more dresses that can be worn anywhere … you know, the kind of thing you spot when you stare into the wardrobe in the morning, throw on and look great in with v. little effort and thought. Effortless style eludes me too, I’m afraid.

Effortless style seems to be my goal right now. You are right, the french women seem to have it down. I just got back from St. Barths, and I tried desperately to absorb as much french style as possible. These dresses speak to the sophisticated, alluring, effortless style of the french woman. Love it!
