Embellishments can be fussy, at times gaudy, playful, chic. On shoes, it’s fun to have them, but most people save embellished shoes for special occasions. . Here in these Nicholas Kirkwood suede booties, the embellishments are not the traditional jeweled buckles but simple patent leather with a clean shape that’s echoed in the cut0outs.

uptownblk350.gifI just like these booties for the clean lines, which are not particularly retro but they have elements of a 1930′s shoe like these recreations you can find at Re-Mix Vintage Shoes. Whether or not there is a direct correlation/inspiration, the Kirkwoods are distinctly of this century.

The structure of these Kirkwoods is architectural and urban. Wish I owned a pair.
