A Lovely Idea

Is it possible that the era of print vs web could be over? That magazines are going to start making a move towards going online? Lovely Magazine may just be one of the first in a series of hybrid magazines that satisfy the urge to browse, and also take into account issues of legibility, design and multimedia interaction. I know the idea has been around for a while, but this was the most intuitive design with the fasted load time I’ve seen so far. My only wish is to see more of these types of magazines.

gosh my bf cant stop talking about this!! ever since that amazon tablet thing, people are really taking this rumor or prediction seriously..but of course i am hoping its not true since i am a fashion journalist :-)

anyway, great find J!
Lovely is amazing, and such a great inspiration for my new mag im working on..figured it cant hurt to try digital before we go broke trying to do print right?

This is good news. I have always had the idea of doing an on-line magazine in my mind.

Definitely a good find! The load time and legibility is much better than most I’ve seen.

The reason I buy most glossies (fashion ones at least), is print quality. It just doesn’t cut it to see a brilliant editorial on the web sometimes… That said, have you noticed a trend of magazines with metallic/other hard to replicate textures? I’m starting to see it more, and I think that’s a great way to “save the glossies!” haha

Web is a great alternative, but I don’t think the debate is over yet!

yeah, that’s why i buy magazines most often, i just wish there was a way to show the fashion shots easily, and i think that the web is going to offer more options than print can right now.

but yeah, the debate may not be over, but it’s probably going to end sooner rather than later…

I like the instant gratification of web magazines instead of waiting ever so patiently for the glossies to come in the mail.
