Today’s Attire : Vintage Luxe

by jennine on December 2, 2007

Hello, hello, my darlings… yesterday I was awoken by a phone call from my friend Jim Hill reminding me that we were supposed to go to the Deco Show to look at antiques and vintage odds and ends. Honestly, I was going to see the furniture, and my boyfriend was going crazy over the really interesting housewares we saw.

I came across a table with old hats, and found this vintage feather fascinator and another hat for $15. I had been eyeing some I saw on etsy, and at Venus Superstar, but this time I couldn’t resist. The show also had an entire area dedicated to vintage fashion, a smaller version of the Vintage Fashion Expo, with some of the same dealers. Vendima, a San Francisco boutique had the coat I’ve been looking for. Leather with a fur collar, it’s vintage but it feels modern. It’s really rare to see leather coats with this kind of cut. Ah… now I can be warm and not steel my boyfriends jackets.

LOVE it! Tonally, the feathers work really well with your hair. Plus, you have a great take on SF style, without veering into twee.

Darling photo, BTW.

I have a feather fascinator a lot like that one but I can’t wear it without looking really old-fashioned.

You make it look so modern and glamorous . . . I’m jealous! :)

Also, thank you for adding me to your blogroll!! There’s a little typo…it’s actually “Maquette”. Sorry to nit pick. I’m psyched to be on the roll with some many others I admire. Have a great weekend!

Love the Deco Show. I have a girlfriend who sells clothing there. My stuff isn’t old enough, so sometimes I help her in her booth. Always a treat! I love that jacket & the feather headband is fabulous. I think the trick with those is to get one that is in the same color tones as your hair. That one is perfect for you because it also compliments your eyes. Very pretty!

Oh I agree on the feather- head piece- It is out of this world- Where did you get this one? I have a friend who makes these sort of items, like headpieces and brooches- but yours looks – well, better :) More vintage like- I think I will have to show it to her . You Truly are lucky to have such a beautiful thing.
