Mert & Marcus do it again. They are my favorite fashion photographers. Yesterday browsing through Foto Decadent, I came to the realization that the brilliance of these photographers is really something that over time, really just develops. It’s much harder than pointing and shooting to communicate an emotion, and in fashion photography, it’s easy to get jaded from flipping through magazine after magazine, looking at one skinny girl in a wacky pose after another. Mert & Marcus just take fashion photography to another level by having the skinny beautiful girl in the wacky pose, in layers of beautiful clothing. They communicate somehow emotion. This spread taken from Pop magazine titled ‘Peek-a-boo’ really does it. It’s a great juxtaposition of beauty and horror… creepy and certainly moving. I love how they’ve hijacked vivacious hot pink. All I can say is more… I want to be moved by fashion even more.
