Today’s Attire: Barbecue

“no thanks, I’m saving room for the bratwurst…”This is what I’m wearing to a barbecue this afternoon. It’s important to keep a few good things in mind:

1. Look festive. You’re going to be at a party, do it up! Parties are the time to look fabulous! But don’t be too sexy (by that I mean don’t look trashy). If you’re at a barbecue, unless it’s a frat party, you’re probably in someone’s home, not a night club. Save the the boob dress for a night occasion (believe me, I’ve learned from experience, both by being the bimbo-looking woman, to seeing them at parties. Just avoid it, it’s not worth it.)
2. Wear layers, bring some extra items like a pashmina, a hoodie, or a jacket, or all of them, when it goes from day to night, you don’t want to be caught in the cold.
3. Also, there will be food there, so be sure to wear something that expands… I’m wearing an elastic belt, so bring on the bratwurst!
