Discarded to Divine

This Friday at the de Young Museum a preview exhibit of Discarded to Divine, a stylish fundraiser for the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s, Vincentian Help Desk, which provides a respectful and dignified experience for 50 to 80 homeless and working poor. The exhibit shows unusable donated clothing, transformed into wearable works of art.

[San Francisco is] a city known for its homeless population, strong design community and eclectic problem-solving wears its heart on its sleeve Thursday, May 10, at St. Vincent de Paul Society’s second annual “Discarded to Divine” event, in which couture fashions made from discarded clothing scraps are auctioned to raise money to clothe the poor and homeless.

These works of art are just beautiful, here are a few of my favorites for this year:
